News broadcasts makes extensive use of chromakey. The presentator stands in front of a blue or green background, which is filled up by chromakey. The subjects presented by the presentator are accompanied simultaneously by visuals, pictures and images in the background. Sometimes with a switch to a full screen display. These are stories that were previously recorded
Students come up with the subjects for the news themselves, and divide the tasks between them. Who will be the presenter? Who is going on an ‘assignment’? Then filming, directing and acting follows! It is great to see your pupils as a newscaster, interviewer or interviewee. Everyone has brilliant fun creating and searching for news and recording the news items.
This is a great workshop to use as a media literacy class.
