Digital Story Telling Grades 6-12 Slideshow Activity

Goal:

Provide professional development which will guide students to write and illustrate an original digital story which will be eventually shared with a kindergarten audience.The PowerPoint slideshow stories will be enhanced with sound, animation and interactivity.

Objective

Students will learn how to:

  • Write up a storyboard in PowerPoint.
  • Insert text, text boxes, WordArt
  • Insert, move, resize, ungroup, delete parts, rotate, regroup and duplicate clipart
  • Use Draw tools or create an image in a drawing program and paste into PowerPoint.
  • Print handouts two per page.
  • Insert music, voice recordings, and animate graphics
 

 

Workshop Length: 3 hours

Date: Wednesday, May 28th,  2014

Time: 5:00 – 7:30 pm

 

Prerequisite:

  • Read Curious George or another popular children’s story and identify the plot, characters, tone, and style of illustrations.
  • Attended the Animated water Cycle, Story Builder or the My First Stories workshop.

 

 

Workshop Requirements:

  • Participants should walk with a pencil, ruler, and color pencils/crayons.
  • Students should bring along a book or story they have read and enjoyed.
